St. Lunaire - Griquet is a small community on the tip of the
Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland . Traditionally, like other communities in
Newfoundland, the main economic focus was the cod fishery. In 1992 a way of life
that existed for hundreds of years disappeared with the introduction of the cod
moratorium. In recent years the fishery has been restructured in such a way that
fewer people are involved harvesting more species of fish. Like other
communities in Newfoundland, the residents of St. Lunaire-Griquet have turned to
other economic activities to overcome rampant unemployment. Many of these people
have turned to the tourist industry and other small businesses to spark
the local economy. This site contains profiles of local
entrepreneurs created by students of the Business Enterprise class of Bayview
Regional Collegiate. More information about St. Lunaire-Griquet can be found
at the school's website.
