Students travel to Vimy
Paris- April 2007 Three junior high students from our school joined 4000  other youth from all across Canada for the 90th Anniversary Celebrations of the Vimy Ridge Memorial this Easter.

Robert Chaisson and Kyle Janes, grade 9 and Sarah Moore, grade 8 represented Newfoundland & Labrador at the international event.  The celebrations was covered by media from all over the world and special guests include Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Harper, the French Prime Minister and the Governor General, Madame Jean.

Students researched a soldier who fought at Vimy Ridge and is honoured at the Memorial.  They became very familiar with the sacrifice that that Commonwealth soldier made during the brutal battles of World War One and Two.

Joining the students were Mrs. Nancy MacDonald, Guidance and Mr. Jeffrey Patry, Social Studies as group organizers and chaperones and Mrs. Peggy Ryan, community member.  This is Belanger’s third trip to Europe in the last three years.  Previous trips included Germany, Austria, Lietchenstein, and Switzerland (2005) and Italy and Greece (2006).
