Africa is located in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. The equator runs through the middle of Africa. About 90 percent of the continent lies within the Tropics. The Indian Ocean is located to the east. The Atlantic Ocean is located to the west. The Mediterranean Sea is located to the North.
Much of Africa has a tropical or desert climate. The average annual temperature is about 26.7 degrees Celsius. The average annual rainfall is about 1780 mm . The desert areas have less than 250 mm of rainfall annually. The average July temperature is more than 32.2 degrees Celsius. During the cold season, the nighttime temperature often drops below 0 degrees celsius.
Africa is the second largest of the earth's seven continents. The maximum width of the continent is about 7560 km. It makes up about 22% of the world's total land area. The highest point on the continent is Mount Kilimanjaro. The Sahara Desert is the world's largest desert. Also, Africa has the largest tropical area of any continent. In countries south of the equator, the seasons are opposite of those countries that lie north of the equator. Millions of Africans have died of starvation and related causes.
We searched the
Internet and had a lot of fun finding information about Africa. Hopefully,
in the future we will do another project like this.
