Europe

Europe is located in the Northern Hemisphere.  Europe has coastlines on arms of the Arctic Ocean, North Sea and on the Baltic Sea.  In the north, you would find the Caspian Sea.  In the southeast, you would find the Black Sea. In the south is the Mediterranean Sea.  The Atlantic Ocean is located to the west.

Europe has a moderate climate with cool winters and mild summers.  The prevailing westerly wind brings precipitation throughout most of the year. Europe has a variety of climates but most  of the continent has mild weather.  Europe generally has milder weather then parts of Asia and North America at the same latitude.  Europe's mild climate is caused by winds that blow across the continent from  the Atlantic Ocean.  In general,  Northern Europe has longer, colder winters and shorter, cooler summers then Southern Europe.

Europe is the second smallest continent and has the second largest population at about 728 million.  Europe is famous for it's rich history.  Ancient Greeks and Romans produced major civilizations, famous for their contributions to philosophy, literature, fine art, and government.  The Renaissance, which began in the 14th century, was a period of great accomplishment for European artists and architects.

We enjoyed researching the continent of Europe.  We learned a lot of new information by using the internet and other sources. Europe is a very interesting place and we would like to visit that continent sometime.
