About Our School
C.C. Loughlin School is a school with students from kindergarten to six. Approximately 560 students attend the school with 35 teachers and 10 support staff. C.C. Loughlin offers both an English program and a French Immersion program. Our French Immersion students reside in many areas of our community while our English students reside on the west side of Corner Brook. The school is named after Mr. Clayton Loughlin (1909‑1993) to recognize and honour his contribution to education in Corner Brook.
Big Buddy, Little Buddy School
C.C. Loughlin is a Big Buddy, Little Buddy School. Children from higher grades are matched with children from lower grades to help each other learn in many different ways. This program provides students an opportunity to succeed academically while at the same time having fun.

Vision Statement
C.C. Loughlin School is a learning community where students, staff, and parents, collaboratively engage in creating a safe, caring environment which promotes academic excellence, celebration of diversity, positive self‑image and mutual respect, enabling all to become lifelong learners.

C.C. Loughlin is a student‑centered school which advocates:
1. That all stakeholders work collaboratively to create a community of lifelong learners who pursue academic excellence in a caring and just environment.
2. That equity is of paramount importance and that diversity should be celebrated.

Belief Statements
The staff of C.C. Loughlin believe that:
1. Our school must strive to provide a nurturing environment that leads to the development of the whole child.
2. The social, emotional and academic growth of the child are equally important in the development of lifelong learning.
3. Identification of students’ strengths and needs are necessary in order to provide an opportunity for goal setting.
4. Strong communication links should be developed among all members of our school community.
5. Individual differences should be accepted and opportunities provided for celebrating them.

8. Students need clearly defined guidelines.

Daily Schedule and Things you should know:
The following is a summary of our daily schedule. Please use it as a guide only. You will be notified of any major changes:
7:50 – 8:20 Volunteer's Breakfast Club: All students are welcome.
8:15 The first bell rings. Students may enter the school building and teachers begin supervision of students.
Prior to 8:15 only children who attend the Breakfast Club are supervised.
8:30 Home room bell rings.
8:35 Class begins.
10:40 – 10:55 Recess
11:30 – Class ends for kindergarten students.
12:15‑ 1:15 Lunch. (Classes resume for Kindergarten at 12:50)
1:15 – 2:50. Afternoon sessions ***(Different start time for Kindergarten Students)
2:50 Dismissal
Things you should know: Help us to help your child have a great day.
1) There is official supervision for your child from 8:15 - 3:00, during breakfast club and any extra curricular activity. Our breakfast club is open daily from 7:50- 8:20.
2) Complete the Student Information Form at the beginning of each school year. Information on this form provides a vital link between your child and the school.
3) Do not bring your car onto the school grounds. This presents a danger to both your child and the lives of all other students. Always register with our general office when entering the school.
4) Know your child's bus schedule( Ph 637-4040). Make arrangements to meet your child at the bus stop. Kindergarten students will not be permitted to depart the bus unless an adults meets them. Please notify the bus depot of changes in your child's schedule. All bus drivers have cell phones. Communication is important ;please exercise all safety tools available to you.
5) At C.C Loughlin we promote healthy eating. Please keep junk food out of our children's hands. All students are given a menu for the year (please post your copy at home). Food can be ordered for the week or daily. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate food that requires heating.
6)Your permission is required for all field trips involving your child. Look for these forms and remember teachers are available to answer any questions you may have.
7) Our school is equipped to handle any minor accident involving your child. You will be notified of any serious encounters and each emergency will be handled in a professional manner. If your child is sick please notify the school by 8:30 (639-2275). A note must be provided when your child returns to school. Telephone service is provided to all students for emergencies only. Please caution your child about the need to use this service wisely.
8) School Closures are announced on local radio stations. If we have to close school during mid day please make arrangements to pick up your child or let us know what arrangements you have provided for your child. It is important that the school has your emergency contact number.
9) For children requiring medications during the school day please contact our office to make appropriate arrangements. We are a peanut free school so please use caution at all times.
10) School supplies are an important part of your child’s education. Our school provides a complete list of classroom supplies at the end of the school year. For new students this will be provided in September.
11) The school suggests that children wear clothing that is appropriate for their age and the season of the year. Shorts are permitted during warm fall and spring days. The school does not allow clothing that contains crude or inappropriate sayings. The school also asks that the children wear clothing that covers their underclothes.
