Back to C.C. Loughlin Home Page
C.C. Loughlin involves all of its students in learning to become stewards of the earth. Each class is encouraged to adopt a portion of the school grounds for planting flowers and/or vegetables. In early spring, students plant seeds which they then grow in our greenhouse. Once the weather is appropriate, classes go outside and plant the seedlings in the ground. Each class is responsible to watch over the tender seedlings and discuss their growth. The Green Thumbs are also responsible to help water and care for the plants.
We also have a trail encircling the school which is named the "Buddy Trail". This trail has many benches and picnic tables for students to use not only during recess and lunch play but as well during our many "outdoor classroom" experiences.
