GRADE FIVE’S MAKE OVER 50 GREAT GAMES FOR SCIENCE CLASS by Amy Best & Sarah Organ People who walked into the Clarenville Middle School atrium on Friday the 22nd of February were amazed by the quality of over 50 games made by the Grade Five science classes. From the beginning of February, students were busy making games about the body. When the games were due, the teacher thought they were so brilliant that she put them on display, and to the students’ liking, cancelled their science test for the next day! The games included names like, "Are You Smarter Than Ms. Pye’s Class?", " Body Chess", " Surgery", "Science For Nitwits", and " Digestive Monopoly". On the morning of the display, one of the Grade Four classes came to play them. From the opinion of them and their teacher, the games were great! To make it even more fun, the Grade Five students got to play and evaluate their classmates games. According to their teacher, Ms. Pye, a lot of time and effort were put into the construction of the games, but according to the students it was a really fun project and way better than any test! |

The pictures below, taken by Mr. Brian Ennis, are of students playing the games they created. Students also took part in the assessment of each others’ game using criteria designed by the scientific leader of the group - Professor P. Pye. |
