RUCKUS ON THE EDGE Education Program

JUNO DAY

April 13, 2010

Clarenville Middle School was one of 5 schools in the province selected to host the "Ruckus on the Edge" program sponsored by the Juno 2010 organization. The morning session started with a video message from famous musicians including Allan Doyle of Great Big Sea and a 2 hour concert with three bands:
  • Matthew Hornell and the Diamond Mines
  • Andrew O’Brien and the Searchers
  • Kilautiup Songuninga (a drum group)

All CMS students took in the concert, along with students from other local schools. Along with listening to some great music, students got a chance to get on stage and join the band, or get out of their chairs to dance to the music.  The gym was electric!

During the afternoon the three bands conducted small group sessions with the Grade 7 and 8 students of CMS. Our students had an opportunity to ask questions, learn about the music industry, and were treated to some intimate, up-close "unplugged" performances.  Eastlink Cable was in the school all day recording the event.  Thank you to Ms. Drover and Mr. Organ for making this spectacular opportunity possible.  CLICK ON THE THUMBNAILS BELOW FOR SOME GREAT PICTURES OF THIS AMAZING EVENT.
