SCHOOL NEWS BULLETIN: SEPT. 15TH, 2003.
The following is a collection of new items from Clarenville Middle School:
• Canteen news: Fresh Fruit cup is available each day for $1.00 and school milk is now .45. Exercise books, pencils, and French-English Dictionaries ($3.00) are available for student purchase.
• Each school day, a news bulletin is circulated to students immediately after recess. One section in this bulletin is a ‘Way To Go’ celebrating some observed positive middle school behaviours. The following are a few from last week:
Way To Go: Ryan Fillier (4Drover) for returning the sum of money he found in order that the rightful owner be found.
Way To Go: Students of 5Pye for having their agendas on their desk at day’s start!!
Way To Go: To a student in 8Waye who volunteered his sweatshirt for a student who had a large amount of Ketchup spilled on his t-shirt. Middle school behaviour!!
• Busses Leaving Earlier! 1. Parents of students riding Bus # 78 from Goobies, Adeytown and Deep Bight (driver Oliver Green) are asked to note that the bus will be leaving 10 minutes earlier in the mornings, effective tomorrow morning! 2. Bus # 9 from Port Blandford bus will be leaving school on Thursday, Sept. 18th at 2:00 p.m.
Times of departure for each bus stop will be forwarded home at the end of the month. We wish to avoid unnecessarily long waits for our children at their stops.
• Students from grades 6 - 8 who were interested in an overnight trip to St. John’s to watch a St. John’s Maple Leafs game were asked to sign-up this past week. Through the efforts and planning of Mr. Green, interested students attended an information meeting on Friday, Sept. 12th at lunch time to be briefed on the details. A very exciting trip!
• The administration of Clarenville Middle School will be meeting with teachers interested in substituting at our school this afternoon at 2:45 p.m. The purpose is to discuss expectations and classroom management issues.
• Nominations for President and Vice President of Clarenville Middle School Student Council were called for by Mr. Organ on Friday. The election will be held on Friday, Sept. 19th. Candidates will be permitted to speak to the student voters at the opening assembly on Thursday, Sept. 18th .
• Please be reminded that skateboards are NOT permitted on our school grounds. We fear for the safety of students riding boards and feel uncomfortable providing adequate supervision. Jumping without proper safety attire is an accident waiting to happen. The gym, resource centre, and games room are open each recess and lucnh providing for safe activities.
• LUNCH MENU REVISITED. The following will be our school menu for the 2003-2004 school year: Monday-Donnini’s Pizza and milk ; Tuesday-Mary
Brown’s Chicken and milk ; Wednesday - Kraft Dinner, Fruit, roll and milk.
Thursday - Pizza Delight Pizza and milk ; Friday - Hot Dog, Pepsi or milk, fruit
snack OR Chicken Nuggets, fries & milk..
