SCHOOL CLOSING AT 12:00 P.M. FRIDAY
Due to teacher professional development activities, school will be closing for students at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26th, 2003. School resumes on Monday, Sept. 29th with it being day 2 on the student schedule.
STUDENT “WAY TO GO’S” LAST WEEK
Way To Go: To Jessica Cooper in 5Baker for using such great manners in our school corridors last week. Jessica was overheard by the teacher on supervision. Super Jessica!
Way to Go: To Dylan Reid and Mark Power, two super students from 6Davis, who found a sum of money around the school grounds and brought it to the office in order for the rightful owner to be found! (Sept. 19 Bulletin)
Way To Go: To Stephen Norris (4Sullivan) who, without being asked, was seen picking up litter around the play area behind the school. Great Middle School behaviour by a super Middle School student! (Sept. 22 Bulletin)
Way To Go: To Jesse Beck(4V) who found two rings in the gymnasium and brought them to a teacher in order that the owner be found. Way to go Jesse!(Sept. 23 Bulletin)
STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTED
The votes have been cast and counted. Congratulations to Michael Walsh (Pres.) and Brad Pitcher (V.P.) on being awarded the opportunity to lead the students through the current school year and build upon our school climate. The staff looks forward to working with you. A very special recognition to all teams (Vic Best/Brad Jolliffe & Tara Cooper/Carrie Burt) on running a great campaign free of put-downs and innuendos. You’re a GREAT BUNCH!

PARENT VOLUNTEERS FOR 2003-2004
We’ve been very fortunate to have wonderful support over the past years and are hoping to further enhance schooling at Clarenville Middle School. If you have any time to offer our students we would love to hear from you. Perhaps working with a friend or group? If any parent or other individuals can help in either of the following areas please inform Mr. Pardy or Ms. Winsor.
☻ Listening to a student read aloud or providing one-on-one assistance with a child (any day of the week)
☻ Working in our Resource Center (any day of the week)
☻ Helping with student supervision (any day of the week)
☻ Organize and teach in the computer lab an introductory computer applications program to some parents and their students (any evening of the week)
☻ Assist in the art, drama, sporting clubs, photography, cross country, etcetera.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DEVELOPING ‘SAFE SCHOOLS POLICY’
The Middle School Safe Schools Committee consisting of Ms. Vey; Mr. Organ; Mr. Mills; Mr. Pynn; Ms. Pye and a group of parents will look at developing a policy to have our school as safe as possible. Thank-you to the parents who have volunteered to be representatives on this committee.
NOTE: 1. No student is to leave school grounds during recess. Leaving dinner time is possible only with the written permission of the parents. Some parents of older students have written notes permitting their children to leave dinner hour whenever they decide.
2. No items of clothing displaying tobacco or alcohol is permitted in our school and we ask parents to monitor their children to assure that an appropriate amount of fabric is donned to wear in school.
