Hurricane Gert was a really bad tragedy.  It almost drowned a man named Lar Barry.  What happened was that he got swept into the pool where all the boats were.  It was 4:30 in the morning.  The day this tragedy happened was on September 23, 1999.  It happened in St. Bride’s on their wharf.  People say there was a hurricane because it was a act of God.  The wave came in over the wharf and pushed Mr. Barry into the pool.
