Our Cape Shore Community
This year we, the Grade two students of Fatima
Academy, have participated in a GrassRoots Project whereby we learned
many interesting facts about our own communities, shared it with other
classes around the world and learned about other communities at the same
time.
The schools that participated in our project were:
We also took part in projects that other schools offered:
In the United Kingdom, Mr. Phil Redman of Lambeth Education was conducting
a study of the day March 12, 1997. Each school was to answer several questions
about that day. You can see the results of the project here.We
had alot of fun with that project and we did drawings that we hope to see
on the internet!
We also took part in a story writing project with a Grade 2 class in Laurens,
New York, USA. We had a blast finishing the story starters that were emailed
to us. We hope that our partner class enjoyed reading them too!
We are very grateful to all participating classes and hope they enjoyed
this project as much as we did!
This year for our Spring Concert, we sang a song about the Cape Shore.
Our teacher, Mrs. Walsh, wrote the words and it goes to the tune of the
Christmas song "Up on the Housetop".
Here on the Cape Shore
Here on the Cape Shore we all play.
All the time, night and day.
We go to Fatima Academy.
It's a great school, yes siree.
Refrain:
The Cape Shore, the Cape Shore.
This land of ours we adore.
There's no place we'd rather be
The Cape Shore for you and me.
Here on the Cape Shore, the birds flee.
At Cape St. Mary's, a sight to see.
Gannets and kittiwakes like to fly.
Don't let the Cape pass you by. Refrain.
Here on the Cape Shore, communities scatter.
Where you live it doesn't matter.
The main thing is we're all free.
The Cape Shore is the best, come and see. Refrain.
