Some people say that John Cabot was the first person in Newfoundland but guess what?

He WAS NOT!! The Vikings were the first people in Newfoundland,  and they came

here in the year 1000. The capital city of Newfoundland is St. John's. The population of

Newfoundland is  approximately 512,390.

Some of the main foods in Newfoundland are: Jiggs Dinner, Cod Tongues, salt fish, Fish

and brewis and fresh fish. If you are not a Newfie you are  probably wondering what

jiggs dinner is.  It is a variety of food in one. It contains  Salt Meat, potatoes, Turkey,

chicken, cabbage, greens, home made gravy and pudding.

Some of the religions in Newfoundland are Anglican, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic,

 and Congregationalist.

John Cabot was the first person to claim Newfoundland.  A person named John Guy

brought 39 people here in the year 1610.  He brought him because all the fine faming

and fishing lands.

The best Tourist destinations are in Newfoundland!!    Some of them are Woody Island,

Signal Hill, Cabot Tower, Cape St. Mary's, Cape Spear, and Splash and Putt.

Signal Hill is located in St. Johns, and when on top of Signal Hill, you can see almost

all of  St. Johns. Splash and Putt is a swimming place, Cape St. Mary's Ecological

Reserve is a place where birds like Northern Gannet, Kittiwake, and Murres nest.

The Island of Newfoundland is a well forested place, but open areas have low shrubby

vegetation. In Newfoundland, spruce trees are common as well as Fir Trees. Many

berries grow here such as the blueberries and bake apples.  Newfoundland is

also know, for its own plant called the Pitcher Plant.

Some of the activities that take place in Newfoundland are Canada Day, Frosty

Festival, Cape St. Mary's reopening, Tattoo Day, Folk Festival, Regatta, and Signal

Hill Day. Canada Day is very special to Newfoundland. It takes place on July 1 and

there are a lot of fire works that night around 12:00.

Some of the sports that we play in Newfoundland are hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis,

rock climbing, baseball,   swimming,  and lacrosse.

In conclusion I would like to say that Newfoundland is one of the best places in the

world, and if you are going for a trip go to Newfoundland.
