Edward Island 

Prince Edward Island is a very scenic province with a great deal of history located in Atlantic Canada. It's population is approximately 135 194. It has a climate of cold winters and warm summers. It's capital city is Charlottetown. Major cities and towns are George Town and Charlottetown. Some interesting information includes: the Irish Moss which is grown by the water, Prince Edward Island is great for farming, and the Lady's Slipper is it's mascot. Prince Edward Island is the smallest province in Canada, and it is separated into 3 main counties: Queen, King and Prince.
The first settlements in Prince Edward Island were made by the French in the early 1700's. Then Samuel de Champlain, claimed it. The British later obtained Prince Edward Island from the French by the treaty of Paris in 1763. Jacques Cartier landed in Prince Edward Island in 1534. At the time Indians called Micmacs were roaming the island. In 1769 the Isle became a separate British colony. In 1799 the colony was renamed Prince Edward Island. Then in 1851 the colony was granted self-government.
School first came in the early 1800s. Now there are schools in Prince Edward Island which meet every student's needs. There are three regional school boards free for age 7-12. The board of education in this province insists that people ages 7-16 go to school. In Prince Edward Island there is one university called University of Prince Edward Island and one college, with sixty-five elementary schools. The university was founded in 1969.
In Prince Edward Island a main religion is Anglican while the Catholic religion has fewer people than the Anglican religion. Yet there are many religion societies and other kinds of groups.
In Prince Edward Island there are many activities. Some of Prince Edward Island's favorite activities include: soccer, basketball, baseball, farming because of such rich soil, and hockey.
People in Prince Edward Island eat many different kinds of foods. Most of their foods are fruits and vegetables. The main foods they eat include: turnips, carrots, potatoes, apples, cabbage, lettuce, and oranges. Yet another important food such as fish and lobster comes from the sea.
Many people create their own source of vegetation. This is because Prince Edward Island has some of the richest soil in Canada. It is like this because most of the province is gently rolling plain.
There are many tourist destinations in Prince Edward Island. These include Rainbow Valley, The Sand-Pit, Anne of Green Gables, The Confederation Bridge, King's Playhouse, Lennox Island, the Wax Museum, and the sandy beaches.
This province is very interesting and I loved it when I was there. I found out that the Prince Edward Island people are just like all of us and how we are all connected.
