Employment

St. Bride's is not a prosperous community.  There are very
little employment opportunities however, all families survive
                               with what they have.

Most people in this community fish during the summer
months or work in the local fish plant.  Afterall, the fishery
is St. Bride's main source of employment. Individuals fish
for crab, lumpfish, cod, flatfish, lobsters, scallops, and other
species of fish.  This work provides money for most
residents of St. Bride's during the summer months and then,
these individuals are eligible for unemployment during the
                               winter months.

Furthermore, other people make their living by owning
restaurants, motels, or convenient stores.  Some such people
are Walter Manning, Richard Careen, Jack Brennan, Bridget
Coffey and Eugene Dohey.  Finally, some people find
employment in the local school, post office, old age home,
                               and library in St. Bride's.

Obviously, St. Bride's does not have a lot of jobs to offer its
residents.  However, all individuals survive and live life to
the fullest, while appreciating their rural community.
