St. Bride's Public Library

In 1973, a regional library was constructed in St.Bride's
through a Local Initiative Program.  The library served
the whole Cape Shore and it was located in the centre of the
community.  Sister Patricia King, a former high school
principal, was the first Library Board Chairperson.
Furthermore, the first librarian was Ms. Eileen Coffey and she
occupied this job for a short time.  Nevertheless, Ms. Mary
Coffey became the librarian after Ms.Eileen Coffey
and presently, Ms. Mary Coffey is still the librarian of the
Cape Shore.  As a result of about twenty-five years of service,
Ms. Coffey's smile and warm welcome is well known to the
                         residents of the Cape Shore.

Nevertheless, just like most other old buildings, this first library
on the Cape Shore was torn down.  However, the people of
the Cape Shore are very fortunate to now have a new library.
Also, in this new building, there is a possibility that the Internet
will now be provided for the use of the Cape Shore residents.
Obviously, over years, services for the rural people of the
                        Cape Shore are immensely improving.
