Paul Boyle
1963 - 2006

On Friday March 24, 2006 students and staff at Glovertown Academy were saddened by the sudden passing of a very dear friend and teacher. The following message from Christopher Penney is an example of the impact Paul had on his students.
A great man, we have lost this day...
On this day, at this early hour of the morning on Saturday, the 25th of
March, the year of our Lord 2006, a great man was lost to us. Paul
Boyle, a teacher, friend to all, the very central essence of spirit of
our school, Glovertown Academy, passed away. News reached myself and my
friends, all of whom have attended that school, about the same
time...the wave of this news seem to spread as instantly and as
powerfully as the wave of sickness I experienced upon hearing it.
Mr. Boyle, as we all knew him well, was a great man. He was someone with
who the students and staff could both relate with, and all enjoyed his
company. A great teacher, who brought the subject matter of anything he
taught, literally, to life, with his actions and speech. He was one of
those who worked extra hours, above and beyond the call of duty, to work
with students and others in extra events, from graduations to sports to
whatever else. Our school is a tight knit school...every teacher part of
an extended family, willing to help each other and the students.
It is impossible to even begin, let alone fully described, the impact
this man had on everyone who knew him. As a student, I could find no
peer who had any dislike of him, something rare even for the greatest of
teachers. I cannot do justice to him, his statue near legend among the
area, with my words. I can only say of some of what he did, events like
Halloween, our graduation, winter carnival day, and just in class where
he would act the scenes from the books we read, having a voice for each
character in Harry Potter, to the 'vater veal of death' a funny inside
joke with his math class, to the complete actions of an actor and
teacher that came through in Theater arts.
This news is of a magnitude I doubt anyone that knew him can truly
grasp...and personally I cannot straighten my thoughts on it anymore
then I have here.
The world lost a great man this day...suffered a wound that will take a
disgustingly long time to heal...if it ever does.
But I feel he is one to not want tears, but laughs in our remembrance of
him, and he gave them to us in great abundance, no one could remain
unhappy, angry nor sad when he had a hand.
And for all the laughs he gave, he was also a man of great sense, who
knew how to deal with serious situations in the best possible manor.
I truly do not know any more to say...words, no matter the language
used, can never truly explain his greatness...he was so much to those
who knew him, even if for but an instant...
Fair thee well, Paul Boyle, fair thee well kind sir. May God guard you
where you may be now, and may you hear our thanks for what your time has
been for us. Good bye, sir. God bless.
