THE NEWFOUNDLAND PONY

DESCRIPTION:

 

                                     

 

 

 

        The Newfoundland Pony is 11 to14” 2’ hands tall. The pony has strong back legs. The ponies can come in all different kinds of colors like black, white and brown. It weighs around 400lbs to 800lbs. They also have a low set tail with a thick mane.

                                         

 

Habitat:

 

                                   

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The Newfoundland pony lives in valleys. They also live in woods with long range distances.     

 

 

 

LIFESPAN:

 

They live for 20 to 30 years.

 

 

 

                       

 

 

 

FOOD:

 

 

 

 

 

They eat hay, grass, sugar and maple leaf trees.

 

ENEMIES:

 The Newfoundland Pony has many enemies including the wolf, coyote, and bears.                                                                                                           

 

SPECIAL THINGS THAT HELP IT SURVIVE:

 

The Newfoundland Pony has strong legs. It also has long hair and a strong back.   

 

 

 

 

OTHER:

 

 The Newfoundland Pony is good tempered. There are not many of them left. The pony can stand harsh winters in relative comfort because of their thick coats. The Newfoundland pony has been in Newfoundland for 300 years. In 1935 there were 9000 of them here. Today there are 1055 to 1050 of them and are still disappearing.
