The Skeleton System

Our Grade 3 students did some research on the skeletal system and did a brief summary of what they found out about the systems major parts and functions. This site is part of a Grassroots project called Human Body Systems being carried out by Randy Crane at Mary Simms All Grade School, Main Brook ,NF.

The human body is made up of 200 bones.

The skeleton serves a number of purposes for our body.

1. It acts as a frame for the body

2. It serves as a system of levers to help the body move

3. It also protects our inner organs. For example the skull protects the brain and the ribs protect the heart and lungs.

4. The bone tissue also contains various kinds of cells that play a major role in keeping the blood healthy.
