Holy Redeemer's Breakfast Program is
operated by our many parent/community volunteers. This program is offered
Monday to Friday and students can choose from a variety of cereals, juices,
milk, waffles, pancakes, etc.
Parent/ Community Volunteers
Our school owes tremendous gratitude to the
many parent and community volunteers who provide countless hours of service
at our school in any given week. In addition to those who help make our
breakfast program run smoothly, it is the added support of our volunteers
that enables us to provide our students with the opportunity for hot lunches
everyday. Still other volunteers come to help in our computer lab as well
as our library and a variety of other projects from time to time, so that
our students can more fully enjoy and benefit from these resources.
Recycling Program
The Grade 6 class has taken the leading role
in a successful Recycling Project sponsored by MMSB and the Green Depot
in Witless Bay. All students in our school are recycling on a regular basis
ant the MMSB match dollar for dollar the amount we receive from the depot.
This project began in November 2000 and
as of mid February we have recycled 11,310 containers.
At Holy Redeemer we really do care about our environment.
Instrumental Music Program
The instrumental program began last year
with only strings. This year it has been expanded to include trumpet, saxaphone,
clarinet, flute, and percussion in addition to the strings continuing from
the previous year. This is an optional pullout program that involves students
in Grades 5 and 6.
DARE Program(Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
This program is being offered to the Grade
6 class by Cons. Tina Brake of the RCMP. The students have been learning
a great deal about drug and alcohol abuse from this worthwhile, 17 week
program. As well, we have the privilege of being the first school on the
island to be offered this program.
