Our School
Holy Redeemer Elementary is part of
the Avalon East School District. Holy Redeemer has a total of 113 students
from Kindergarten to Grade 6, serving the communities of Portugal Cove
South, Biscay Bay, Trepassey, and St. Shotts along the Southern Shore portion
of the Irish Loop.

At Holy Redeemer we are committed as staff to our school's Mission Statement as part of our continuing School Improvement Program. At the heart of our commitment to our students are six belief statements that reflect our vision of teaching and learning. We believe:
Holy Redeemer has a full-time Special Education Teacher working with students from Grade 1-6 who have specific learning difficulties requiring more individualized teaching.
The Challenging Needs Program at Holy Redeemer is designed for children with special needs that require them to follow an alternate program.
Speech/Lanugage Support Services are provided at all grade levels at the request of staff and/or parents, with students receiving short-term or long-term support from our Speech Pathologist.
Itinerant Teachers from the School Board District Office and the School for the Deaf are also involved in meeting the needs of visually and hearing impaired students.
Our Guidance Counsellor provides programming for students in class settings and for individuals, at the request of teachers, parents or students. Support has also been provided through special testing to help focus on students' special needs, academic or emotional and how these needs may be most effectively addressed.
