a point of view and then trying to related the feelings of that person
who was either away at war or waiting at home for their loved ones to return.
Please Don't Leave
I am... a nineteen year old girl
I wonder... if the war really isn't what we think
it is
I hear... that people are losing their lives
I want... it to be safe and exciting
I am... a girlfriend who has a boyfriend who wants
to go to war
I pretend... it's just a few months and he'll be
home for Christmas
I believe... something wrong is going to happen
I touch... him as I hug and say good-bye
I feel... lonely as he leaves my house
I worry... that I will never see him again
I cry... as I picture him reading the newspaper
I am... now a lonely girl
I say... I will never forget him
I dream... of us grown up with our children and
I hope... it will come true

I touch... my trembling face
I feel... the tears roll down my face
I worry... about my family
I cry because I want to see 18 next year
I am... sinking in the mud
I say... stop the fighting
I dream... about a world without fighting
I hope... for the future's sake my dream will come
true..
