BIOLOGY 3201/GRADE 9 SCIENCE

We have many field trips during a school year at Holy Trinity High. Some of the courses which may have the chance to go on a field trip wouldbe all courses! Because if anything is of intrest then we try to get there.A good example would be the Biology class. This year we were doing the forestry booklet of the course and we got the chance to go somewhere, so the teacher arranged for us to visit Memorial University's Botanical Gardens and the Marine lab in Logy Bay. While we in there the grade 9 science class made a visit to the Fluvarium and explored the different types of fish which exist in our environmentin Newfoundland.

WORKPLACE SAFETY 3220
Not long ago we experiencad a trip to the oil refinery in Come By Chance. While we were out there we also arranged a trip to Wiffen Head Transshipment facility, This facility was used for storing oil which came from Hibernia and would be later shipped to the UnitedStates. The facility was capable of storing 1.5 million barrels of oil. We went on this feild tripfor Workplace Safety 3220, to see how safety cautious some places are. While we explored these two placeswe learned a great deal about refineing and storing oil.
This is an arial view of the Come By Chance refinery. You can also see clearly, the jedi which extends outfor the loading and unloading of ships which come in.

This another picture of the refinery but much more close up. You caneasily see one of the burners which are used for refineing the crude oil.

CAREER FAIR
Earlier this year we attended a career fair at the new Civic Center in Carbonear. While there the students had a chance to visit the booths of different schools around the island. Later in the daywe attended a speech about different careers which people were involved in. We then visited the College of theNorth Atlantic, and later went to the Knights Of Columbus for something to eat, then back to the Civic Center, later returningto the school.

SKIING TRIP
In one day of the Winter we always make a point to go to white hills for a day skiing. Usually every year the bus leaves around 6:00am, it may be an early rise but it is alot of fun. At the end of the day the bus usually leaves around 4:30pm.This year when we were out there the conditions were excellent which gave us a great day of skiing.

Thank you for visiting the fieldtrips of Holy Trinity High at Angelfire. Please come back and visit again!
