BLOODY POINT:Some people believed that there were fightswhich included the French, the Indians, and the Englishon Bloody Point. After it rains the holes in the rocksare said to look red because of the massive amount of blood left from the battles that occured. It is alsosaid that there is a treasure burried out there some-where.

CANVAS TOWN/BEAVER POND ROAD: Before rubber boots were common in New Perlican, people used canvas to place around thier legs, from their rankles to their kneeswhen they went in the woods. another legend on howthey got their name was that the early settlers that came here lived in Canvas town in canvas tents(probablythe sails of their vessels).

JEAN'S HEAD: This is a famous high cliff known to all New Perlican residents. It is located across from Bloody Point and, it to, has a lighthouse. Since this high point isn't very close to civilization, and the lighthouse needed to be kept burning by coal andthen by oil, the lighthouse keepers would live in a house located also on Jean's Head.

PETER'S FINGER: This is a hill overlooking Fitter's Cove. This too, has many stories on how it got it'sname. Some say it got it's name because the rock inthis hill is shaped like a finger overlooking the ocean. It is also said to be named for the famouspirate, Peter Easton, who is believed to have visitedthis popular landmark.

FITTER'S COVE/VITTER'S COVE: The older people maketheir "f's" sound like their "v's". They would calla file a vile, or a fir tree a vir tree. Also, schooners were fitted out with supplies for theirtravels, therefore being called "fitter's cove". Vitter is said to mean "cold". Most of the time it was very cold in the cove so they called it"vitter's cove".
