The Town of Winterton, incorporated in 1964, is an outport community in Newfoundland with a population of 667 as of 1991. Originally known as Scilly Cove, the name was changed to Winterton in 1912 to honour a former Newfoundland Prime Minister, Sir James S. Winter. It is located on the north east coast of Trinity Bay on the Avalon Peninsula.
