Geography

The community of  Bridgeport is located on the northeast coast of Newfoundland in an area known as  New World Island.  Within our coastal community there are many trees and large hills. The soil is very fertile, there are lots of ponds and bog lands. While forest is plentiful, there is very little flat grass land.  Bridgeport has a very protected harbor, with a very narrow mouth that widens inside and is surrounded by high hills. The water is deep which makes it a good sheltered harbour for ships.
