Question: What was it like in school years ago?
Answer: We had to walk to school, We had to carry a junk of wood with us for the wood stove, to keep us warm during the day. We also carried books, there were no school bags, we had a strap around our books. There was one class room with one teacher. If we had to be punished for something, we were put in the corner with books on our head. Recess time we had to go out doors and play. There were no janitors. After school each day one student would have to stay back and take their turn sweeping the floors. Most people didn’t finish school because they had to help with the family.
