Parkview, formerly known as Dark Hole, was first settled in 1970 by Stanley Burt   The new name of Parkview was adopted when a person from Parkview went around door to door with a form asking people if they should have a different name instead of Dark Hole. Residents said that the community should be called Parkview because of the nice view we have of the Dildo Run Park.  The Dildo run area is rich in history having been the site of much logging in the early days. Many people from Twillingate and surrounding areas would come to cut wood and logs in Dildo Run. With good timber for logging,  people started saw mills in the community in the early 1970's. A track and trolley that ran from Track Cove, Virgin Arm to Dildo Run was used to carry wood, logs, lumber and other things. The convenience of the woods and the establishment of saw mills saw the community begin to grow in size when the families got bigger and more people moved in.
