Christmas years ago:

    Christmas time years ago nobody would put their Christmas tree up until Christmas eve . Now everyone puts their tree up the first part of December.  Everyone made their own decorations out of rose paper, they would paper chains , and popcorn on a string. After everything was finished they would hang their stockings. In the morning when they woke up their stockings were filled with oranges , apples , grapes and a piece of sweat cake ,sometimes if they were lucky they’d get a note book and a pencil. Everyone in the family would get one gift each and it would usually be a doll or some kind of toy car. Some time in Christmas a couple of families would get together and go mummering. People would put pillow cases over their heads, they would wear old rubber boots ,and work shirts.  Some people would play instruments like the accordion and mouth horgan. Later on their would be a skit at the church that everyone would go watch. After that they would go visit friends and family.
 

Education years ago:

Years ago everyone would walk to school everyday. They would all have to bring one junk of wood. When they went to class they would read the bible and say the Lords prayer. After that they would take a spelling test and read a story.  Everyday they would have the same classes, the same time with the same teacher. If anyone was bad the teacher would give them the strap and be put in the corner with books on their head. There were no bathrooms in the school so they would have to
go out to the outhouse. There were no gyms so at recess everyone would go outside to play kick ball on the ice. After recess they would write sentences on a slate for the rest of the day.
