October 13th 2008: Updated the Student Council page. Changed the spelling from "Inuttut" to "Inuktitut" on the main page. Updated the Staff page.
June 26 2008: Added links on the archive page and the links page to the "Moravian Hymnbook: The Tunes" collected by C. Latrobe circa 1790. These tunes will provide the music for the Moravian Hymnbook in Inuktitut to be found on the links page.
March 9 2008: Coded the Home page clock to display Atlantic Daylight Time which began today, 'three' hours from Greenwich rather than the standard 'four'. The rule of thumb is "Spring forward: Fall back."
February 25 2008: Updated the Art Homework page and uploaded more photos to the Textiles page.
February 24 2008: Added the Student Council page to the website.
January 23 2008: Corrected some code in the ART pages. There had been a mysterious "s" that appeared unexpectedly, but it has been removed. Also updated the navigational links at the top and bottom of each page. Look soon for a automatically new "Home of the Huskies" photo each time you open the home page. Added a little graphic of a 'school' on the Newsletter page, for some colour.
January 21 2008: Posted the beginnings of a newsletter, with links from the homepage.
January 21 2008: Posted Miss Powell's ART pages. These pages will soon have a variety of information added to frequently.
December 18 2007: Added two links from the Grade 4 & 5 webpage "gr452007.htm" to 'Roots of Empathy' and 'Healthy Living Commotion', and a "tail" to the cursor. This 'tail' is the first item of a planned series of interesting javascripts which will soon inhabit our webpages.
December 16 2007: Posted the Grade 4 & 5 webpage "gr452007.htm" and photo album, created by Miss Butler. Created a link to this page at the top and bottom of the homepage.
December 9 2007: Posted the songtexts and melodies of the Grade 6-9 Christmas play on the page "xmas.htm".
December 8 2007: Created a link to a soon-to-be-appearing series of pages on art at JHMS, being created by Miss Powell.
December 7 2007: Updated this school year's staff list to reflect recent changes.
Previous changes since Christmas 2005, in chronological order:
December 25 2005 Homepage. Replaced the "View our School from Space" link to a live image of the planet earth with Nain in the center with a "MERRYCHRISTMAS" link to the music "We Wish You A Merry Christmas".
January 8 2006 Homepage. Replaced "MERRYCHRISTMAS" with "English Proverb of the Day" a javascript from an external source with a specific proverb linked to each date of the year. Each of the 365 proverbs will appear once a year on the same date each year. You will see the February 29th proverb once every four years. Be sure not to miss it!
We also removed Amalia's name from the staff list as she has found employment in the national capital.
We also added Lora Dawn Angnatok's name to the staff list as she has returned from an approved leave to her work in the Guidance Office.
January 16 2006 Removed the daily proverb from the homepage and replaced it with a link to the Quilt of Belonging website. The Quilt will be at our school January 20-22.
January 27 2006 Added the page "Family Literacy Day" which took place at the Primary School. The page features photos of some of the events. The page can be found at: http://www.k12.nf.ca/jenshaven/familyliteracyday.htm
February 6 2006 Moved the Quilt of Belonging link from the Homepage to the Links page and replaced it with a daily Latin Proverb. See the note for January 8.
February 16 2006 Changed the coloured image of two huskies on the home page to a black and white image of 'our husky' that appears on our school stationary.
April 3 2006 Changed the clock on the home page to Atlantic Daylight Time (three hours behind Greenwich instead of the usual four hours).
June 23 2006 Added a 4 MB PDF "New Staff Orientation" of 51 pages, written by our principal Mr Hallett, with a link from the homepage top and bottom.
June 23 2006 Changed "our husky" image on the homepage back to "huskies".
June 23 2006 Added a 350 KB HTML version of the "New Staff Orientation" and linked from the homepage top and bottom.
June 24 2006 Added a link from the New Staff Orientation page to the PDF version. The PDF has a few typographical and formatting errors which will be corrected as soon as possible.
August 23 2006 Simplified some of the formatting of the HTML version of the New Teacher Orientation. Also added the calendar for the coming school year with a link to it from the links page. This calendar will soon get links from the top and bottom of every page.
September 3 2006: Posted the 2006 staff list, with some names remaining to be filled in later this week. Revised the information on the Contact page. Added links on the Archive page: to last year's staff list and our previous principal's photo and 2004 message.
September 4 2006: Updated the 2006 staff list.
December 26 2006: Removed the 'New Staff Orientation' page for editing. Added contact information to the Principal's Page.
January 3 2007: Returned links on the homepage to the 'New Staff Orientation' page.
April 11 2007: Posted at the top of the home page a link to the programme of the 2007 Spring Carnival Variety Show with some related notes and links.
April 12 2007: Removed the 365 daily rotating Latin proverbs from the homepage until more information can be given, such as translation, history and relation to education in Nain.
May 25 2007: Moved the link to the programme of the 2007 Spring Carnival Variety Show and the link to 'New Staff Orientation' from the top of the homepage to the archive.
May 26 2007: Removed the automatic emailer link from the homepage and contact page to a manual-entry version on the contact page in order to end overly frequent computer-generated junkmail. Anyone wishing to contact the webmaster can manually copy and paste the address to their email program.
May 31 2007: Added to the archive a link to the 1999 Spring Carnival page. This page has links to the various carnival events with lots of photos.
June 12 2007: Added to the archive links to 'The Irish Blessing' in two versions: vocal and instrumental. It is a first experiment in using our website as a easy way to get melodies into the classrooms for the use of teachers.
June 22 2007: Added to the archive a link to the 2007 End of the Year Concert program. This page has links to pages which will (in the future) discuss the various performers and pieces performed, their history, texts, photos and so on. Currently these pages are found in a plain vanilla state, but we plan to introduce some new and attractive formats in the near future. In addition we will open pages for each of the classes which will showcase the children's writing, art work and musical performance.
June 23 2007: Added the beginnings of a new 'JHMS Photo Gallery' on the Photos Page.
June 24 2007: Added a photo album of 'Traditional Moravian Celebrations' on the Photos Page.
