Homework
at NLA
Northern Lights Academy gives its full support to the Homework Policy of the Labrador School Board.
Some
special points about homework in the Primary classes:
all students will be assigned homework regularly
the child needs help from a parent to complete the homework
the parent agrees to be responsible to see that the homework is returned to the school.

Time you should expect your child to spend doing homework and studying:
Grade l: maximum 20 minutes of work time
Grade 2: maximum 30 minutes of work time
Grade 3: maximum 40-60 minutes
on occasion, but 40 minutes
on a regular basis
Grade 4: minimum of 45 minutes work time
Grade 5: minimum of 45 minutes work time
Grade 6: minimum of l hour work time
Grade 7: minimum of l hour work time
Grade
8 to Level III: minimum of 2 hours a night.
This includes assigned written work and study time.

* NOTES:
l. Exams, tests and major written assignments will be assigned at least l week in advance. There will never be more than 2 tests assigned for any one day.
2. Teachers at NLA will not assign written homework on Thanksgiving, Christmas
or Easter holiday except in exceptional circumstances where
the student is involved in a special program or is behind in his/herregular
program.
In keeping with our school goals, the teaching staff encourages all students to read over the holidays.
