This page will show you some of the things that are offered to the students here at Norman's Cove Elementary. We have various sports activities, special events and other things that are of a great benefit to our students!!!
Lunchtime sports at our school is something the students look forward to and enjoy. We have soccer in the fall, floor hockey in the winter, and volleyball in the spring. We have a boys league and a girls league for soccer and floor hockey. Our volleyball teams are a mixture of both boys and girls. The teams are compiled of students from grades 4, 5, and 6. The large number of students who participate are encouraged to show good sportsmanship and have fun. Norman's Cove Elementary is proud to be able to offer these activities to it's students.
This past year we initiated our Local Artist Program. The purpose of this program is to draw upon the talents of local 'artists' in such a way that we can enrich our art program beyond that which is required in the course. Each Wednesday afternoon nine local artists visit the school and each works with a small group of students for the entire afternoon. The program runs for eight weeks and then starts again with students from another grade. The local artists, under the supervision of a teacher, work with a small group of students to complete various projects. Throughout the program students learn to make and paint ceramics, paint wall murals, knit, make paper mache, cross-stitch, design crafts and photograph. After several weeks, when students have completed their projects they change groups and work with another artist and learn aspects of another art form.
Through the generosity of parent volunteers our school is able to offer a hot lunch program to our students. Each day 2-3 parents visit our school and serve lunch to our students. The lunch items could either be brought from home to be heated or it could be items purchased at the school and need to be heated. Having the parent volunteers assist with this program makes it possible for all of our students to receive their hot lunch immediately upon entering the lunch room.
Norman's Cove Elementary is an official C.A.P. site. This means that our school has partnered with both the Provincial and Federal Government to offer computer training and Internet access to residents in the surrounding area.

Each year our school encourages students in the grades 4 to 6 to try out for our school floor hockey teams. Both the boys and girls teams participate in the Upper Trinity South Invitational Tournament.
It is an annual tradition at Norman's Cove Elementary that students share their talents with others in our Christmas Concert, Spring Concert and Lip Sync Concert.
