Charitable Donations
Offering an educational program that is consistent and comparable to elsewhere in province and country is one of the most challenging goals for a rural school board. As the number of students continue to decline in our school system, so does the amount of government dollars that are allocated to our Board on a per capita basis. It then becomes a constant struggle to offer programs and stock schools with essentials, to say little about supporting school sports and music programs.
To support our efforts in maintaining the high standards we have set for our School District, we have established the Northern Peninsula/Labrador South School Trust Fund. This entity will accept donations on our behalf in support of educational initiatives in School District #2. The initiatives referred to are separate from those financially supported by government and include such things as library books, computers, music, school sports, scholarships, drama fairs, science fairs, heritage fairs, school trips etc.
All donations are tax deductable and will be used specifically to enhance education in our district. Your donations will help students in all the communities in our jurisdiction which takes in the community of River of Ponds in the south and all the communities northward on the Great Northern Peninsula, and Lanse Au Clair in the south to Norman Bay in the north on the southeast coast of Labrador. We are particularly reaching out to individuals who have come through our education system, charitable gift giving organizations and anyone else who would like to contribute. We encourage you to view our District Newsletter while you are visiting our web site and see firsthand the projects and initiatives our students and schools are involved with.
We welcome your donations in support of educational initiatives which will help students in the Northern Peninsula/Labrador South School District receive a well-rounded education which includes access to opportunities which ordinarily would not be available. No donation is too small. Cheques can be made payable to the Northern Peninsula/Labrador South School Trust Fund. If you would like further information about the trust fund or wish to make a donation, please contact one of the people listed below.
