On a beautiful snowy day in the peaceful town of Happy Valley, a little husky puppy named Buddy was looking for an adventure. He went out to bury his bone in the playground behind his home. He walked around looking for the perfect spot and found it in the corner by the swings. However, when he started digging he got a surprise! Just under the snow was a shiny, golden lamp.
“Ruff, ruff! What is this?” Buddy thought to himself. He pawed at the lamp until it was free.
“Help!” said a voice from inside the lamp.
Buddy rubbed the lamp with his paw. Just then, a Husky Genie appeared and said, “Thank you, Buddy! Because you have freed me from the lamp, I will grant you three wishes! But remember they must be appropriate, safe and kind.”
“Of course,” replied Buddy.
Buddy thought long and hard about his first wish. He wondered what he should wish for. It had to be something special. Maybe he would wish for world peace or an end to world hunger, so that there would be no hungry children in the world. Buddy realized that this was going to be a BIG decision.
Buddy thought and he thought. Then he remembered that all the kids were wearing pink t-shirts that said “I will stand up”. Today is Stand Up To Bullying Day, so he decided that his first wish would be that there would be NO BULLIES ALLOWED in Peacock Primary School.
Buddy thought a little more about the wish. Then he decided that instead of not allowing some boys and girls in school because they were bullies (Buddy thought that everybody should go to school), he would wish that everybody who came to school learned and practiced A-S-K everyday!
Buddy said, “OK Husky Genie, I have my first wish. I wish that everybody in our school learned and practiced A-S-K every day. I want our school to be a bully free zone and I want the boys and girls to use my special letters A-S-K even when they are not at school.”
“That’s great Buddy, now what will your second wish be?”
“Wow,” said Buddy, “I know exactly what my second wish will be.”
“What will it be Buddy?”
Buddy wished that he could travel around the world and educate all the boys and girls about being Appropriate, Safe and Kind. He also wanted to give pink t-shirts to the boys and girls he met that said, “I WILL STAND UP”.
Husky Genie said, “You’ve made a very wise wish Buddy. You are a very kind dog. Now what is your third wish?”
Buddy thought long and hard about what he should wish for, as this was his third and final wish. He asked the Husky Genie if everyone could hold hands and chant the rap, “We are different” and then do the “Buddy Bark Dance” to celebrate kindness and being friends with everyone!
Husky Genie was so excited to grant this last wish. He was so glad that it was Buddy that rubbed the lamp. All his ideas were so kind and considerate. Husky Genie decided that Buddy would be granted three more wishes. This time Buddy would have to wish for something for himself. Buddy was so kind and considerate of everyone else that the Husky Genie rewarded him by letting him choose three different things that he would like to have.
Buddy thinks to himself and smiles big. “Hmmmmm, I am feeling rather hungry. A big, juicy, thick, bone would be super good and healthy.”
“Your wish is granted Buddy. Et viola! Bon Appétit Buddy!”
Genie opened his hand, and there was a red bowl with a huge white bone in it. Genie gave the bowl to Buddy, and he started chewing on the bone slowly so he wouldn’t choke. Buddy kept saying “Yummy. C’est bon! Merci beaucoup!” Buddy was very happy and kept wagging his tail.
Genie asked Buddy what he wanted for his next wish. It only took Buddy a second to decide. He was soooo excited he couldn’t stop wagging his tail and jumping up and down. “A family, a family” he barked. Husky Genie waved his paw and right before Buddy’s eyes appeared the most beautiful dog house and two Huskies.
“Ruff, Ruff” barked Buddy as he ran to play with his new family.
Buddy now had everything he had ever wanted. So he decided to give his third wish to the children at Peacock Primary School.
