Earth Day was celebrated at Peacock Primary School with a beautiful sea of green and blue! Students wore green and blue to represent the colors of Earth as seen from space.
We had a school assembly to learn about saving the Earth. No matter how big or small, tall or short, young or old, we can ALL help to save the Earth and do our part. We talked about ways we can help the Earth by following the three R's: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle". We talked about ways to do this like: turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth, turn off the lights when you are not in a room and turn off the TV when no one is watching it. We should also use cloth grocery bags each time we go grocery shopping instead of using plastic bags and always use a lunch bag to carry your lunch. We should always recycle cans, juice boxes and plastic bottles!
We all made a pledge to do our part to help save the Earth. We all will take this very seriously. Everyone can help us!
Also at our assembly each class received a tomato plant to hang in the window. We are all so excited to watch the flowers turn into little green tomatoes and then turn red so we can eat them! YUMMY! It is very interesting to watch something grow and then be able to eat it. Thank you to The Birdhouse for growing them, Mr. Sellars for buying them for us and Mr. Rice and Mr. Webber for hanging them!
There is a lot of exciting things happening at peacock!
