PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Happy New Year! I trust you all had a wonderful holiday and were looking forward to school starting up again. I know the children seemed to be excited when they returned and have settled in nicely for the winter term. On behalf of all the staff "Welcome Back"!!!

We are looking forward to working with you to ensure a successful school year.

SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING

There will be a School Council Meeting on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will examine and develop a Protocal Agreement with Avalon West Board as well as share information from two recent restructuring meetings held in Bay-de-Verde.

All parents are welcome to attend.

MARS FUNDRAISER

We raised $1900.80 in this years fundraiser. This money has been earmarked to improve the computer lab and purchase much needed literacy resources. Thank you for your continued support.

SUF DONATION

A "BIG" thank you from all the students and staff goes out to the SUF for their donation of a coloured printer for our computer lab. We certainly appreciate all the support this organization has given us.

HEALTH CHECK COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in the process of setting up our Health Check Committee and need 2 more volunteers to help out. If you are able to provide assistance, please call the school or Debbie Crocker our Public Health Nurse at 588-2565.

EXCLUSION FROM SCHOOL FOR CHICKEN POX

We have received a Memo from Health and Community Services stating that children with chicken pox need no longer be absent from school. Current evidence and the recommendations of the Canadian Pediatric Society clearly indicate that the majority of transmission occurs in the stage before the rash appears. A child may attend normal school as soon as they are well enough.
