Inclusion in education involves:

  • valuing all children, parents/caregivers and staff equally

  • differences between children should be embraced as resources to support learning

  • increasing the participation of all in the learning and playing

  • reducing barriers to learning and participation

  • improving school for staff as well as for students

  • fostering relationships and partnerships between the school and the community

  • recognizing that inclusion in education is one aspect of inclusion in society

Inclusion is NOT

  • just an education issue

  • a special education issue

  • a “disability” issue
