Gingerbread Cookies
1 cup shortening Beat shortening and sugar until light; beat in eggs, fancy and cooking molasses. Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, salt, cloves, and cinnamon. Using wooden spoon gradually stir into molasses mixture. Mix well. Divide into four pieces and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Roll out one piece at a time to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters. Bake at 325 degrees F for 12- 15 minutes or until golden and firm to touch. Transfer to racks to cool. Decorate as desired. Makes several dozen cookies. |
