BLACK BEAR

The black bear is the smallest North American bear and is said to be the least aggressive. It occasionally eats meat but prefers to feed on twigs, buds, leaves, nuts, roots, fruit, and corn. The black bear lives in woodland habitats and spends much time looking for food. The American Black Bear mates in June and July. The female only gives birth every two to four years. She gives birth to two to three cubs.
