United Church of Canada 
The creed of the United Church is "to love and serve other's, to seek justices and resist evil, to proclaim jesus...." There belife is that god speaks to people in worship and that by worship the spirt of man is renewed and lifted.  The different ceremonies of the United Church that they celebrate are Baptism, Holy Communion, marraige & burial of the dead.

Important days of celebrations are Sunday (The sabbath Day), christmas (Advent), Easter (lent, good Friday, Easter Sunday),New years day. The different groups that the United Church have organized within the Church are: For the youth they have : Canadian girls in training, explorers, Junior choir, Sunday school and TGIF. For the adults they have: The men's servic club, United Church women, adult choir, craft group and a social group.

 The History of the United Church in Carbonear.



 There were 4 churches built in Carbonear. The first church was built in 1766 and Rev. John Mcgeary was the first official Methodist Minister. Because this faith grew so fast in 1814 a new and bigger church had to be built. Unfortunately after 6 months tha it was open it burnt down. So in 1819 the third church was built and it could set a 1000 people.The congergration continued to grow and it was decided to build anthor  Church for the south side of Carbonear in 1870. This church cost $8000.00 dollars.

In 1925 the methodist churches in Carbonear became the United church.
Then in 1966 the present day United church was dedicated as Bethany United church, it's minister was rev.F.W.Bradbury.  Today there present minister is rev.C. Chaulk.  In 1976 the church on the South side of Carbonear was officially called park ave. In 1990 the United church was closed down.
