American Black Bear

The American Black Bear is found in North America.It often has a white star  shape on its chest.its color ranges from brown to black,cinnamon,beige,and pure white.
     Its habitat ranges from the tropics of  Florida to the Arctic.
Female Black Bears usualy weigh 155 lb.Males usually weigh 285 lb.Some Black Bears weigh 550 lb.The cubs usually weigh 1 lb when they are born.
     Black Bears  have sharp claws on  their feet so they can climb trees.Black Bears are good swimmers and climbers.They have good sense of smell but poor eye site.
     The American Black Bear lives in a wide  range of habitats,including forests,scrub forests of the  Subaric,and near jungle.
     American Black Bears eat berries, acorns, succulent herbs, fish, carrion, and insects. They eat 45 lb a day and gain up to 5 lb a day in preparation for water.
     They are up to 6 feet high. They are afraid of grizzly bears and stay away from them.
     Two to three  cubs are born during the winter while the motors are hibernating. Cubs stay with their moter for about a year.
