The Coyote

     The Coyote is a new world member of the dog  family closely to the wolf. The Coyote  lives in most areas of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
It varies in colour from the red/brown colour of Coyotes in arid environment to the grey polage of Coyotes in Northern forests.
 

        Compared to the wolf the Coyote is smaller and has a slender build.
Adults weigh between 20 and 50 pounds.The Coyote has a long snout,
wolf like eyes, and pointed ears. The legs are often reddish in colour and

the tip of it's tail often has a black tip. Adult Coyotes  vary in colour from light yellow or yellowish grey to brownish yellow. 

Coyotes feed cheifly on Rabbits and on rodents such as Gophers, Mice, Prairie dogs, Rats, and Squirrels. Coyotes also prey on Antelope and other animals. The Coyote eats insects and reptiles.
