Coniferous Forests
Different kinds of forest have different ecosystems.  Coniferous forests cover huge areas but have fewer kinds of plants and animals than any other forests.  Many coniferous forests are enormous; they are some of the last wild places in the northern hemisphere.  Some of the forests in Canada and Russia are half-frozen and the trees only grow for a few weeks a year.  Because the plants grow so slowly, animals need to roam over large areas to find enough food.
