BUCKTHORN

Buckthorn is the name of about 150 species of shrubs. Most buckthorn grow in mild regions.The most common buckthorn is a spiny shrub first grown in Europe,the buckthorn can grow up to 12 feet.The leaves are oval and grow in the colour green and in clusters. Buckthorn comes from a family, called Rhamnaceae. The scientific name for buckthorn is Rhamnus cathartica. Buckthorn is commenly found in bogs and moist soil.The buckthorn grows fruit in June or July. the Natives discovered buckthorn in Western Newfoundland. The buckthorn also grows berries, the juices from the berries may be cathartic.
