BIRD-OF-PARADISE
The Bird-of-paradise lives in South Africa.
It has orange and blue flowers and banana-shaped leaves. The blue-green
leaf carries the flowers looks which looks like a boat. The flower has
three sepals and it also has three petals, it resembles flying birds of
paradise. The also grow in California, Florida, and Hawaii. They live up
to two weeks if they are cut.There are many different herbaceous perennial
plants , there is about five species of birds- of- paradise plants. The
name is given because of its unusually shaped , showy flowers. The flower
is also called the crane flower , it is also trunkless , its leaves
can grow to about 30 cm 12 in sometimes rise to about 90 cm 35in. The leaves
have veins coming out of the midrib, almost like veins on a
banana leaf. The plants have large orange or scarlet combined with blue
and white. The bird- of - paradise is grown more for the banana- like leaves
than its flowers. It is a large treelike plant that can grow to about 46
cm and 18 ft. Its rootstock is erect and woody , the flowers are blue and
grayish. The bird-of-paradise needs rich soil, lots of sunlight, and abundant
water. This flower is a member of the family Strelitziacease.
