Galena

Galena is a mineral consisting of lead sulfide (pbs)
* Color- Opaque, grey to black, and sometimes blueish tint
* Streak- Lead grey
* Hardness- 2.5 - 2.75
* Luster- Metallic
* Cleavage- Perfect cubic
* Other examples: Calcite, Dolomite and Pyrite
* Uses: Mined for the silver and for lead. Lead is used for radio active barriers.
*Shape: Cube and Cuboctahedron
*Location: U.S.A.- Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma Utah, and Wisconsin.

* Formation: Galena is a Igneous rock (means formed from volcanic activity) and can be formed intrusively or extrusively (intrusively when molten rock cools below the surface. (Extrusively when molten rock cools above the surface.)

* Other info: Galena is an important lead and silver ore. It was usually contains small amount of silver. Smaller amounts of other metals such as Copper, Gold, Arsenic, Antimony and Selenium also occur in Galena.
