Luster: vitreous to adamantine
Cleavage: none, but may exhibit parting
Transparent to opaque
other examples: spessartine, grossular, and andradite
Uses: sandpaper and jewelry
Where found: Canada, Africa, Brazil, Sri Lanka and U.S.A.
