Hardness: 7.5 - 8
Luster: Vitreous, submetallic, or dull
Composition: Magnesium, iron, zinc, and/or manganese aluminum oxide
Cleavage: None, but may exhibit a slight octahedral parting
Streak: White
Fracture: Conchoidal
Chemical Formula: MgAl2o4
Transparency: Transparent to opaque
