Gold
is found in streams where it flows after falling from mountain sides,
pushed
there by rushing melting snow, as well as on and in mountains themselves.
Gold
is a heavy, soft metal. Shiny and dark yellow in color. Gold achieved
value
as it's rarity became known.
The
purity of gold is measured karats (abbreviated "kt"), the more
gold
in a piece of jewelry, the higher the karat value. Karat jewelry, usually
runs between ten and eighteen karats. Twenty four karat gold is pure gold,
with no other metal in it.
Gold is always beautiful. It doesn't rust like iron or tarnish like silver. It can be hammered into the thinnest sheets, turned into gold wire, melted and cast into any shape imaginable.
One use for gold is money. Gold has been used as currency and is held by a government and is usually kept in bars,or bricks, called bullion.
Another use for Gold is jewelry. Gold alloys are commonly used because pure gold is too soft to withstand the wear of regular usage.
