Sea Otters are aquatic carnivores that members of the weasel family. They live in both fresh and marine water. They feed on fish and also small mammals, birds, frogs, and crayfish.
Its strong claws and fully webbed feet make the otter well suited for catching food. The webbed hind feet are broadened into flippers for swimming, and the forefeet are useful for grasping. Otter's blunt teeth crush shells to get food and their big lower teeth are used to scoop meat out of the shells.
This creature's Chestnut colour help's it blend in with the muddy water's of rivers and lakes. They rely on the grooming of its fur to trap a layer of air against its skin, thereby protecting it from the frigid waters of northern seas. Otters sleep and eat while floating on their backs.
During the first half of the twentieth century, sea otters were hunted almost to extinction, however, protective measures increased their numbers.
